As the new year approaches I am spending time contemplating what next year’s practice of devotions will look and feel like. What can I add or release to help me be my best self? What seed am I planting, what bud will open into beauty? Where will the medicine come from?
A practice is an act of self improvement. When your practice becomes regular, it turns into a discipline. Discipline based upon your passion for self improvement can be the difference that takes you from feeling obligated, to feeling balanced, peaceful and sacred. This type of self discipline based on your passion creates a life of deep personal expression and self knowledge.
I believe This is why we are here (collectively). To create a life of deep personal expression!! When our practice evolves to a place of passionate discipline, it is no longer a practice, nor a discipline… It’s a devotion.
When you live your passions as a practice of devotion, everything is possible… This is the place of miracles.
Are you ready for miracles? Start your practice RIGHT NOW! Become DEVOTED… to a way of living that brings you joy… to your own heart, your own inner workings, your own curiosities… to expressing your creativity… to exploring the world, whether it be far and wide, or right in your own backyard!!
Bring yourself fully into this moment. This place of imagining your practice, your pathway to DEVOTION,,,
Now, Allow your shoulders to drop and your face to relax.
Take a deep breath in and quietly say “I am breathing in”. Now exhale and quietly say “I am breathing out”. Let all tension flow away from you.
Let your chest fully expand as you breath in and out.
Give your whole body a moment to soften, and place your hand over your heart, breathing into that space.
You might spend some time pondering..
How are you breathing today?
What are you making space to discover?
What are you yearning for?
My ponderings go something like this…
“What will I bring to the center of the labryinth on this crisp clear morning?
What do I need to shed in order for me to grow?
What do I need to cultivate in the garden of my mind?
When I open my eyes, can I create a silly song about the first thing that I see?
How can I practice devotion today? Devotion to the land, the plants, the water, the 4 leggeds, my husband, family, friends and community?”
And… how do I feel RIGHT NOW in my body?”
As 2018 comes to a close, my prayer for the New Year is that all our lives be filled with intentional devotional Miracles!
My mantra is “may I and all others all be of service, be and feel seen, and may I and all others create daily devotional practices that change us, shape us, soften us, expand us, and create peace with our inner and outer worlds.
Love, Aniiyah
